Lubang Takes a Giant Leap Towards Sustainability: MRF Upgraded to Waste-to-Resource Center
Municipality of Lubang, Occidental Mindoro—April 2025. Nexuz Group, in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Lubang, is proud to announce the successful upgrade of the Lubang Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) into a pioneering Waste-to-Resource Center, now branded as "Lubang Hive," and joining the Nexuz network. This significant development, spearheaded by the visionary leadership of Mayor Michael Orayani, marks a major milestone in the island's commitment to sustainable waste management and environmental stewardship.
The upgrade, completed in April 2025, involved the installation of machinery and training for local personnel. This transformative project now enables Lubang Hive to process unrecyclable mixed wastes into approximately 1,500 pieces of high-quality, branded eco-building materials daily.
These innovative materials, part of the Nexuz network’s product line, will be introduced under the "Mason Bee" brand, exclusive to Lubang Hive. This brand is a testament to Lubang's dedication to creating eco-friendly solutions. The diverse range of Eco Building materials offers a sustainable alternative for various construction needs, including LGU housing projects and other local infrastructure developments. Local residents will also have the opportunity to purchase these materials, fostering community involvement in sustainable building practices.
"Lubang Hive, the Waste to Resource Center is a testament to our commitment to a cleaner, greener Lubang," stated Mayor Michael Orayani. "By transforming our waste into valuable and branded building materials, we are not only addressing our waste management challenges but also creating new economic opportunities for our community and aligning with wider sustainable development goals."
Lubang's initiative aligns with the progressive waste management strategies adopted by leading cities in Metro Manila, where unrecyclable waste is increasingly being diverted into building materials. This forward-thinking approach underscores the island's dedication to embracing innovative solutions for sustainable development.
The Waste-to-Resource Center, Lubang Hive, operates under a circular economy model, emphasizing waste reduction, resource recovery, and reuse. This model not only minimizes environmental impact but also provides valuable livelihood opportunities for local residents, contributing to the island's economic resilience.
GA Nexuz Inc. is honored to be a part of this groundbreaking project and welcomes Lubang Hive into its network, remaining committed to supporting Lubang in its journey towards a sustainable and prosperous future. This initiative stands as a shining example for other municipalities in Occidental Mindoro and beyond, demonstrating the transformative potential of innovative waste management practices.
